The urge to eat poisonous berries/
A gentle android’s daydream

An ongoing multidisciplinary project, a story about a synthetic being with a desire to be organic.  The project  consists of multiple works in different media such as video, sculpture text and sound.
The title video A gentle android’s daydream depicts a daydream or reverie from the dreamer’s perspective; the gentle android longs to be part of nature. In this feverish dream, the android is swallowed up by the earth and, through the process of decomposition, becomes part of the ecosystem. The video references the classic computer screensavers we see when the computer goes to sleep. The monitor is the visualisation of the computer’s brain; thus, the screensaver becomes, as it were, a representation of the dreaming mind.

The three sculptures  are  referencing the transformation and rebirth of the android, representing something between a cocoon, a strange embryo and a fossil. The material between technological 3D-print and organic mycelium.

‘Dolls Eyes
’ is a short animation that builds on the video ‘A Gentle Android’s Daydream’. The video features a 3D animation of a poisonous berry that appears in the android’s dream. It is displayed on a smartphone and framed by an assemblage of ‘human-made’ materials, alluding to the artificial nature of the dreaming android.
